An independent journal about evidence-based healthcare. Pubmed and the Cochrane databases are scanned for interesting and coherent articles that are than summarized and published in the Bandolier with addition comments and brief recommendation.

BETs were developed in the Emergency Department of Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK, to provide rapid evidence-based answers to real-life clinical questions, using a systematic approach to reviewing the literature. BETs take into account the shortcomings of much current evidence, allowing physicians to make the best of what there is. Although BETs initially had an emergency medicine focus, there are a significant number of BETs covering cardiothoracics, nursing, primary care, and pediatrics.

Evidence-Based Practice Centers

Agency for Health Research and Quality provides 5 year contracts to institutions in the US and Canada to serve as Evidence-Based Practice Centers (EPC). The EPCs review all relevant literature on a variety of scientific topics as well as monitor the methodologies of current research. It contains the following databases: The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness, The Cochrane Controlled Trials Register, and The Cochrane Review Methodology Database.
