Spring 2008 Data Validation Symposium
A symposium on data validation was held during the Annual Meeting of American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma in Washington D.C (March 12, 2008). This symposium focused around general discussion on injury data quality. Sandra Goble presented the results and recommendations from the case validation study done on NTDB data, Laura Cassidy presented methods to improve data quality by using inter-rater-reliability and Clay Mann presented limitations of Kappa and its extensions. Different methodologies and experiences with data validation were discussed as well as future plans for NTDB in improving the quality of the data.

Fall 2007 NTDB Risk Adjustment Symposium
A symposium on risk adjustment was held during Clinical Congress in New Orleans (October 7, 2007). This symposium was intended to produce an exchange of ideas and opinions among colleagues with interest and experience with risk-adjustment. Different issues and methodologies for risk-adjustment were discussed.

Spring 2007 Imputation Symposium
A symposium of imputation of missing data was held during the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Annual Meeting (March 14 17, 2007). The problems with missing data in NTDB and different methodologies for handing missing data were discussed. It is important to explore the impact of missing data with sensitivity analyses.
